The northern route of the American Discovery Trail has been busy this year (compared to years past). This weekend, we got to meet some of the people discovering America via Illinois trails.
Americorps NCCC can't send us a team this summer to repair trails at Weldon Springs State Park.
The program's admin says that applications for teams this hitch outnumbered available teams 2-1, and has asked us to consider applying for a fall team instead, serving mid-September to November 1.

I spent this beautiful day hiking around Woodyard Trails and some acreage acquired by the land trust Grand Prairie Friends and the Lumpkin Foundation today, just outside of downtown Charleston, Illinois. (This is work; some days it's lucky to be me).
I run and ride trails like a dog. This is different from running or cycling doggedly. I walk and coast a lot, I trot, chase some things, stop and listen, and socialize, albeit as a human would socialize—face to face, not nose to butt.
