Make Trails Work
Trails for Illinois operates Illinois Trail Corps, the only state conservation corps focused exclusively on building, repairing and improving human-powered trails. In two years, we’ve helped public agencies save more than $200,000 repairing and building trails.
Make Trails Work is also where our advocacy, planning and advisory projects live.
- We're fighting for trail funding, and helping towns and agencies like Touch of Nature navigate the fruit salad of federal and state funding grants like CMAQ, ITEP, OSLAD, RTP and the Bikeways Program
- We're organizing, planning, promoting and fundraising for trail projects like Cal-Sag Trail and Big Marsh
- We're supporting and advising on rail banking efforts in communities statewide like Canton, Flora, Bloomington-Normal, and Cissna
- We're jumpstarting trail-based economic development initiatives along the I&M Canal Trail, the Hennepin Canal State Trail, the Kickapoo Rail Trail, and around the state
All of our partners benefit from our 20+ years of experience & expertise in trails planning and advocacy.
