FILLED–Trail Crew Leader - May 6–June 29

THANKS FOR YOUR INTEREST!

Trails for Illinois’ conservation corps program, Illinois Trail Corps, is sponsoring an Americorps NCCC team to build 4 miles of sustainable primitive hiking trail across the steeply undulating Embarras Ridges (pronounced “ambrah”) just south of Charleston in east central Illinois. We’re paying $18/hour and including housing in Charleston (home to Eastern Illinois University) for an experienced, full-time trail crew leader to train and lead this team of 8-10 young adults in trail construction and stewardship. Our projects invite locals to come out and learn trail construction, so some days you'll incorporate volunteers too.

Your experience should include team leadership, sustainable trail design principles (we have centerline flagged, but in-the-field adjustments/improvements are always part of the hitch), small bridge construction, chainsaw work & First Aid/CPR. Please e-mail your resume to steve@trailsforillinois.org, Subject: Illinois Trail Corps, and write or call with any questions, 708-365-9365.
